Good Designers have always prefered sustainable fibers like; cotton, linen, wool and leather, to synthetic for both its performance and feel. Wool carpet has also been the prefered choice for it's incredible longevity and cleaning ability. Hardwood, ceramic tile and stone are designer staples. For Jay,early in his career, working for people with allergies forced him to educate himself about VOC's (volatile organic compounds) and alternative natural products. Today the options and choices are much greater than in the past. Including post consumer products like recycled glass tiles from bottles, carpet from plastic, and faux teak made from old milk bottles. Ethanol fireplaces can warm your home cleanly and cork flooring can warm a basement floor without the expense of radiant heat.
